this weekend, it seems like whenever i spoke with a teacher from my school, they relayed a story about passing out somewhere for hours at a time. we just finished the first full week, and we're all feeling it. i've been so ravenous and tired, snacking like 20 times a day and wanting to sleep by 8pm most nights. the early mornings are starting to wear as well, and i need to have more resolve about getting to bed earlier.
for instance, this morning i woke up naturally (yet begrudgingly) around 7am. i didn't get out of bed until about 10am, when i realized that the free hotel breakfast time was coming to a close, so i showered and dressed just for that. after breakfast, i returned to my room and promptly feel asleep for three hours solid, and then forced myself up for the facade of productivity.
i don't know why i'm surprised, this happened to me in the states, too. but then again, i wasn't learning to navigate a new culture, experiencing language pseudo-immersion, or learning a new school.
I don't think I ever knew teachers spent the first week of school acting like night shift workers :P
