central market

last weekend my vice principal took a few of us to the central market in zone 1 of guatemala city. if you know me, you know that i LOVE visiting outdoor markets wherever i go; i love the energy, the hustle and bustle, the sheer arbitrariness of the combination of people present at the shopping center. and the bargaining. i'm not super awesome at bargaining, but i'd like to think that i am average+. i know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.

anyway, here are some shots of the mercado:

kammie and jean ah, middle school and high school math teachers, respectively. two super awesome ladies, with whom i've been spending a lot of time. they are standing in front of some palace or something. hahah.

fountain and pigeon hang out in town square.

hooters :) hahaha. i kill me.
they actually do have a Hooters here, in zone 10. more on chain restaurants, later.

guate pottery

ok i couldn't resist. yes, i am a big dork, punny shirt and all.

the afternoon culminated with a sushi lunch, which, uh, took a lot out of me later. but look at how happy i was at the time!

lesson learned: don't eat raw fish in a developing country that experiences frequent power outages.
