yesterday my ferry landed in a city called Moyogalpa, here on Lake Nicaragua. am staying on a double volcano island, doing almost nothing. it is amazing. is this what rich housewives do all day? i know i would get bored of this everyday, but it is v. nice for now.
the ferry ride was touch and go. who knew a lake could be so rocky? the poor little girl next to me was also feeling it, and then showed it. i just looked the other way and breathed in the tiger balm fumes from the backside of my wrist. tiger balm is a wonder, i tell you.
i've been devouring books. this is the first time i've felt like this since pre-grad school (graduate school, not grade school.) now i can un-self-diagnose myself of adult-onset dyslexia and mild narcolepsy.... i just needed time and to chill!
spending another night here at this rustic-ish hotel, and then will do a day trip tomorrow to san juan del sur, a surfy beachy spot. tomorrow night i will sleep in granada, again, before heading back to guatemala city on thursday. then, i will have about 16 hours to run a gajillion errands, and pack for two weeks in the tundra. fortunately almost nothing i have with me here in the tropics will suffice for two weeks in the frozen tundra of boston, so packing won't be as stressful.
right now boston is 45 degrees F. and it will be in the 30s the first week i am there.
managua, nicaragua is 82.
guatemala city is 66 right now.
the differential is not that bad.... knock on wood.
I miss you res! Can't wait til you come home!
