festival de coros

the aforementioned elementary choir hosted an area-wide chorus festival this week and groups from other schools came by to show their stuff. while i had nothing to do with the planning, it was still somewhat stressful, especially when i couldn't find the piano player for "la bamba" and the mexican folk song. but he eventually showed up, phew. and he totally brought down the house.

but, first, these are my little people, aren't they so cute in their choir uniforms?

the band... i was outsourced for the guy on the left, who was so great. i want to jam like him. the guy in the middle played bass and the guy on the right was on drums. fun guys.

a choir from another school. this whole event made me miss singing so much!

a girl reacts during the song-- she was hilarious and committed to all of her actions.
ok, i might just possibly be in love with this choir director. he led the pre-K/K choir from another school and was such an animated director, bouncing around and doing the hand-motions so that the kids had a visual cue as they performed. also, since i've done a lot of music-type things with little kids, i know how hard it is. it's like herding cats, and also usually requires a few drinks afterward. tough tough job. got mad respect for this guy.

his choir wore robes, like from Hogwarts School. here they are performing "itsy bitsy spider" in spanish; their hand motions made the robes flap around whimsically. their whole performance was edible. ED-I-BLE.
