if you've known me for a while, you know that i usually have a mini freak-out session at the end of each month. for really. the steady passage of time is too much for me sometimes, and i need some extra time to adjust. for instance, both of my wall calendars are still on february, and i have no problems with that. it comforts me (even though i do want to see the new picture on my "dirty dancing" calendar.)
why is it already MARCH? the third trimester began today, indicating that i am 2/3 through my first year here and already 1/3 through my contract time (i hope that math is correct.) insane in the membrane. where did time go? it seems like just yesterday that i was packing my earthly belongings into two suitcases, nervously fidgeting on the flights down here, wondering what was next.
but, i have to say that i am looking forward to this semester more as i was just let go from one of my tutoring gigs. but, don't cry for me, argentina, as i am super psyched. during this afternoon's session from hell with this little 4 year old boy, i was silently practicing the spanish phrases i would need to break up politely with this family. i'd been putting it off for a while, but it's been something that i'd been thinking about for months and either from laziness or from conflict avoidance, or both, i never went through with it. luckily the mother pulled me aside today and put me out of my misery. i didn't even pretend to be sad, but instead confirmed at least three times what i thought her intentions were. as much as i Hated Hated Hated to see this little boy get his way and smile with glee, i was glad to cut the cord finally. it's for the best.
phew. this affords me more time to do what i really want to do-- some volunteering, more hanging out, exercise, etc. last week was an awesome time of hanging out (like alllll week!), all because i had one canceled tutoring appointment. i had so much fun last week.
alright, gotta go, "the namesake" movie is on tv. the book is far superior, and changed my life.
go you!!! i am all about having enough free time for myself (at least this year...) i'm not sure about in guate, but yoga mats here are cheaper than the ones in the US.
ReplyDelete(and is that little boy the one you've mentioned in the past?)
CONGRATS!!!
ReplyDeleteNo tears to be shed in that situation!! :) Miss you!
